The Volunteer Canteen is certainly a real gem of a local, in the back streets of old Waterloo. This cosy, traditional pub has a central bar serving both the public bar and the lounge, where photographs of old Liverpool, Crosby and Waterloo decorate the walls. The 'Volly' provides table service, and always ensures a relaxed atmosphere which prevails without the intrusion of a juke-box - just good banter and the rustle of newspapers.
