Situated on Broadway in Shifnal The Plough Inn is of historical and architectural interest and is Grade II listed. Its position along the North-South axis of the town (which, according to Local Council records (2000), is probably an ancient route from medieval times) contributes to the eclectic historical aesthetics of the Broadway Conservation Area. The Plough Inn was a hugely popular venue with the local community. There have been many changes to Shifnal during the last century and change will obviously continue for the area throughout the 21st century, too. The pub industry continues to be gripped in change as policies and legislation descend upon it with the advent of the smoking ban which has impacted upon society in general. We aim to embrace change seeing it as an opportunity to create something new and exciting for all the people who visit The Plough. This 17th century building has seen the centuries in and out and yet still remains amidst everything that history has thrown its way. The historical interior of the pub is juxtaposed to the modern world outside its doors. When you enter The Plough it is like stepping back in time. The Plough is being reinstated as a pub which will become a leading venue for real cask ales. A choice of 8 ales will be offered with regular changes to the choice available. In current times of the demise of the pub industry this is an exciting time for Shifnal as a pub is opening not closing. It is a time of celebration for our heritage of the great traditional British pub. The Plough Inn used to be a traditional pub offering ales and spirits. We intend that once again known a regular meeting place for friends and families and local community groups where they can relax and enjoy catching up whilst taking advantage of a bite to eat and a drink. Furthermore it will develop as a venue to feast the eyes as well as the palate in that local and visiting artists can exhibit their work adorning the walls of this enchanting establishment providing people with an opportunity to view or puchase art in a comfortable, warm, friendly environment
